  • It shall be unlawful for any person to drive a vehicle on a highway at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent under the conditions then existing.

    Case Law annotation— Speed limit is not a license to drive at such speed at all times under all circumstances but rather is modified downward when conditions demand so that a driver must drive at a reasonable speed not to exceed the speed limit. Lambrecht v. Archibald, 119 Colo. 356, 203 P. 2d 897 (1949).
