§ 48-92. Definitions.

  • The following words and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them:

    (1)

    Embankment shall mean all of any publicly or privately owned land or property included:

    a.

    Within one hundred fifty (150) feet of the centerline of the South Platte River, as defined in the official maps and plats maintained by the city engineer;

    b.

    Within seventy-five (75) feet of the centerlines of all creeks, canals or watercourses, as defined in the official maps and plats maintained by the city engineer; and

    c.

    Within fifty (50) feet of the normal waterlines of all lakes, ponds and reservoirs, as defined in the official maps and plats maintained by the city engineer.

    (2)

    Litter shall mean all or any rubbish, waste material, garbage, trash, debris or noxious foreign substances, whether solid or liquid, of every form, size and description; except, snow and ice removed from public or private property.

    (3)

    Refuse shall mean all or any dung, carrion, dead animals, offal or any putrid or offensive substance, or the contents of any privy, vault or cesspool, whether solid or liquid, of every form, size and description.

    (4)

    Stream. Any river, creek or canal flowing in or through the city including, but not limited to, the South Platte River, Cherry Creek, Bear Creek and the Highline Canal, as such rivers, creeks and canals are defined in the official maps and plats maintained by the city engineer.

    (5)

    Watercourse shall mean all or any ditches, gulleys and gulches, as defined in article III of chapter 10, and as defined in the official maps and plats maintained by the city engineer; including, but not limited to, Sanderson Gulch, Weir Gulch, Goldsmith Gulch, Harvard Gulch and Dry Gulch.
