§ 48-31. Defined.

  • The term "commercial garbage" as used in this article, shall include waste from the preparation, cooking and consumption of food, condemned food products, and all refuse from the handling, storage, preparation and sale of produce, originating primarily in kitchens, stores, markets, restaurants, hotels and other places where food is handled, stored, cooked, sold or consumed, including roominghouses, boardinghouses and all other establishments licensed by the city to serve food for human consumption, located within the city, not serviced by approved garbage disposal units discharging into the sanitary sewage system of the city, but shall not include food processing wastes from canneries, slaughterhouses, packing plants, potato chip processors, or similar industries, nor individual household units, boardinghouses, roominghouses and multiple dwellings occupied by fewer than eight (8) household units.
