§ 42-63. Work schedule.

  • (a)

    Pursuant to Section 7(K) of the Fair Labor Standards Act (29 U.S.C. Subsection 207(K)), the city hereby declares and establishes a work period for the chief of police, the deputy chiefs, the division chiefs, and commanders of twenty-eight (28) days.

    (b)

    Effective January 1, 2001, the chief of police and each deputy chief, division chief, and commander shall receive eight (8) days off during each of the 28-day work periods for each officer working an eight-hour shift. Officers working other than an eight-hour workday shall have the days off adjusted accordingly.

    (c)

    The city hereby declares and establishes a work period for the chief of police, the deputy chiefs, the division chiefs, and commanders of seven (7) days for the period between December 25 and December 31, 2003, and every fifth year thereafter. The chief, deputy chiefs, division chiefs, and commanders shall receive two days off in the seven-day work period.
