§ 2-214. Powers and duties.

The powers and duties of the commission shall be to:

(1)

Advise the mayor and city council on the special issues, initiatives and efforts of its constituent groups; and

(2)

Recommend necessary procedures, programs, legislation or administrative action and to promote and ensure equal rights and opportunity for the people of the city in connection with cultural issues; and

(3)

Annually recommend goals and objectives of the commission; and

(4)

Review all works of art or similar cultural or esthetic edifice proposed for city ownership and, except as otherwise provided in section 2.4.4(E) of the Charter, recommend for acceptance by ordinance all such works of art or similar cultural or esthetic edifices approved for city ownership.
