§ 2-1. Seal.

  • (a)

    A seal, an impression of which is as follows, shall be and is hereby established and declared to be the corporate seal of the "City and County of Denver," to wit:

    A device in circular form; an eagle with outstretched wings, occupying the upper and right hand portion of the field; below and in the left an ornamental shield bearing upon it a key; above the shield. A smokestack, the dome of the State Capitol and other buildings, with mountains forming a background and partly concealed; the setting sun with radiating beams of light; the marginal band of the seal being divided into three spaces by the two wings of the eagle, and by the tail of said eagle, together with the shield and these three spaces containing the words, "City and County of Denver," and the word "Seal."

    (b)

    All papers that may be issued under the authority and attested by the seal of the city are hereby declared to have been, and to be, duly issued under the authority of the city.

    (c)

    It shall be unlawful for any person:

    (1)

    To forge or counterfeit the seal of the City and County of Denver, or a facsimile thereof, upon any contract, deed, certificate, affidavit, warrant, recorded document, or any other written, printed, or electronically created instrument which purports to represent the approval, agreement, support, or acknowledgment of the City and County of Denver with the contents of said document; or

    (2)

    To remove, mutilate, deface, or modify the seal of the City and County of Denver which has been officially attached to any written, printed, or electronically created document.

    (d)

    Violations of paragraph (c) of this section shall be punishable under the authority of section 1-13 (general penalty) of the Revised Municipal Code.
