§ 27-24. Rooming houses.

  • It is unlawful for any person to operate a rooming house, and for the owner or operator of a rooming house to allow any person to occupy any rooming unit, except in compliance with all the applicable provisions of this article and the minimum standards for rooming houses. The board of shall adopt and the manager shall promulgate rules and regulations that establish minimum standards for rooming houses applicable to all rooming houses, including standards for sinks, bathrooms, water supply, water and sewer connections, privacy, rubbish storage, garbage disposal, heating, and ingress and egress, as necessary to protect public health and safety of the people and promote general welfare.
