§ 14-45. Good conduct lessens fine and imprisonment.
(a)
The manager of safety, ex officio sheriff, shall have the power to reduce the sentence of a person confined in the city or county jail under a jail sentence imposed on the person for violation of a municipal ordinance, where the person so confined does all work assigned, abides by the rules of the jail and the instruction of the director of corrections and deputy sheriffs and otherwise conducts himself/herself in a proper manner. Such reductions of sentence shall be applied in accordance with C.R.S., title 17, "Department of Corrections," article 26, "Jails" sections 17-26-109, 17-26-115, and 17-26-128.
(b)
The manager of safety, ex officio sheriff, shall have the power to grant earned credit to a person confined in the city or county jail under a jail sentence imposed on the person for violation of a municipal ordinance, for the successful completion of certain designated programs or educational activities, for outstanding progress in any assigned program or activity, or for unusual or extraordinary actions as determined by the county sheriff. Such earned credit shall be applied in accordance with C.R.S., title 17, "Department of Corrections," article 26, "Jails" section 17-26-109. The "earned credit" of this subsection is in addition to any good time credit granted in subsection "a".
(c)
For the purposes hereinabove stated, the director of corrections shall from time to time render to the manager of safety, ex officio sheriff, in writing, any recommendations for reduction of the sentence and for such additional allowances per day against their fines, as to the prisoners so confined.
